Kristin Rose Kelly Band

As a mainstay of Chicago’s music scene, Emmy Award nominated songwriter, Kristin Rose Kelly has built her career as a balladeer and modern-day guitar hero. Her music is ingrained in the sounds of classic rock mixed with raw grit and emotional lyrics that naturally fall into place. Proudly based in the suburbs of Chicago, she’s always worn her influences on her sleeve — but her melody first music is unmistakably her own. She developed her unique sound as soon as she had her hands on her first guitar at age 12. Since then she has toured the US and frequents her home base in Chicagoland always creating a buzz. Saying it’s her “female rock anthem” Kristin Rose Kelly’s recent release of “Pantyhose” which was written to empower women. Kristin has written for other artists as well including southern Belk winner Eryn Shewell with whom she also toured with as a back up singer and lead guitarist on her southern Belk tour. Other accolades include singing and writing for Al Krouse, opening for Dilana, and Isaiah Grass, and writing the intro theme to Herman the Jester which gained an Emmy Nomination. Her song “Pantyhose” has been aired on Chicago’s “Rock the Fox.”

Shadowfields

One of Chicagoland’s longest running his/her duo-led bands, Shadowfields, is like nothing you’ve heard before. As expert songwriters and arrangers for 18 years, Tom McKeown and Heather Humphrey mash-up Appalachian instruments with funk and groove heart that play with your senses! Shadowfields boasts 7 studio albums, is played on over 200 independent radio stations in U.S. and has been touring the U.S. and Canada for 10 years. With upright bass, fiddle, mandolin, mandola, Irish bouzouki, flute, piano, drums, their refreshing original sound is a sweet thunder mash-up between artists such as Mumford & Sons, Civil Wars, Nickel Creek and Avett Brothers. Shadowfields proves to be a band for people who love acoustic music (and tight 4-part harmonies) but want to feel a pounding in their chest! That’s swamp grass ladies and gentlemen! The band reformed as 5-piece in 2013, and they didn’t want to completely eschew their folk roots sound but they also wanted to incorporate funk, soul, and blue grass and it’s proven to be a huge success. Shadowfields will have you saying, I’ve never heard that kind of music before and leave you wanting more.

Every Monday at 8 PM CST, join Tom and Heather for “Monday in the Studio” live on YouTube @shadowsfields1. They also curate “The Song Bird” (@thesongbirdroselle) original music showcase, providing listening room experiences in the Chicago burbs. Plus, they’ve just unveiled Green House Studio, a community space catering to select musicians who seek top-notch recording without breaking the bank.
